Thanks to all of your votes The Devastators were awarded "Best World Music" in the 2010 San Diego Music Awards. It's a new year and The Devastators have been nominated once again for 2011. This is the sixth year the band has been nominated! Winners are determined via public vote and voting is open now through July 25th, 2011. In February of 2011 The Devastators had the opportunity to headline the closing ceremonies of the REEF Conquer Classic in Montanita, Ecuador, performing and backing singer/songwriter James Alger of One Drop. Many thanks to REEF, Conquer cerveza, Balsa Surf Camp, Manino, James, and the people of Ecuador and Montanita for their hospitality & such an amazing response and warm welcome. Many have asked for some video from the show. Although we haven't received any official footage yet we did find this montage of the event on youtube...at the end you'll find some clips of the show.

Christina Perez recently interviewed John Allen for San Diego radio station Jazz 88.3 FM. The interview will air tonight (Wednesday May 26th) at midnight (Pacific standard time) as part of the "One World" program. John will be discussing various musical projects he is involved with (including The Devastators) as well as insights into the songwriting and recording processes. During the show we will debut a never before heard song from the upcoming new studio album by The Devastators.
Those in the local San Diego area can tune in via 88.3 FM, while those elsewhere in the world should be able to listen via the internet by logging onto the Jazz 88.3 website. A song by The Devastators was licensed for use in the film alongside a soundtrack featuring bands such as Ozomatli, Michael Franti and Spearhead, and Modest Mouse. Sometimes in Life releases May 18th, distributed by Ariztical Entertainment.

The Devastators recognized at JPF Music Awards

The Devastators were honored at the 2009 JPF Music Awards with 3 nominations in two categories. The band's debut album "Frontline" was nominated in the Reggae Album category, and two songs ("Find A Way" from the Better Days album and "Frontline" from the Frontline album) also received nominations in the Reggae Song category.
When the results came in The Devastators were awarded 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the Reggae Album and Song categories at the awards ceremony held in Nashville. Considering over 42,000 albums and 560,000 songs were reviewed for the largest Independent Music Awards ever, the recognition is humbly appreciated.
